She Believed She Could Play College Lacrosse. Then She Trained for It.
In ninth grade, Sofia’s ambition was ahead of her results. She had not earned postseason recognition and was still developing the skills she needed to compete at the next level.
She chose the athlete she wanted to become and began connecting that vision with her daily preparation, language and response to setbacks.
Those experiences helped shape Sofia’s Squad: coaching that helps female student-athletes practice the mental skills they can carry into sport, school and life.
THE JOURNEY
Belief Became Preparation. Preparation Became Proof.
Choose the Future
Sofia wanted to play college lacrosse while her speed, stick skills and ability to manage her response on the field were still developing. She chose a goal that gave her work direction. Then she began connecting the athlete she wanted to become with how she prepared each day.
Build the preparation
Through practice, postgame reflection and Identity Statements, Sofia learned to connect her goals with daily actions. She worked on using each performance as information, choosing useful language and responding to setbacks.
Close the gap
As her preparation and game developed, Sofia reached significant milestones. She earned All-First Coast recognition, became a two-time high school All-American, received the Jackie Pitts Award and earned the opportunity to play Division I lacrosse.
Give it forward
Those experiences helped shape the Malleus Mentality, the coaching system Sofia co-created. Through Sofia’s Squad, athletes work with a coach to connect their goals with specific practices, review what happens and adjust. Sofia’s experience informs the approach, while each athlete brings her own goals, challenges and choices to the relationship.

“I Want Your Daughter to Trust Herself.”
I know what it feels like to hear “just be confident” without anyone showing you how.
I want your daughter to have a coach who listens, takes her goals seriously and helps her find a useful next step when things get hard.
That might mean talking through a difficult performance, recognizing what she learned and choosing one action to practice. It means giving her room to find her own words and take ownership of what happens next.
She can feel nervous and still act with purpose. She can be disappointed in a performance and still learn from it.
I want her to build skills she can use for herself, in her sport and long after her playing days are over.
Our Mission
One Relationship at a Time.
One Generation at a Time.
Sofia’s Squad exists to help female student-athletes trust themselves, think for themselves and act with intention.
That work begins with a coaching relationship built around the athlete’s goals. She practices directing her focus, choosing her language and following through on actions that matter to her.
Our goal is to bring this coaching to 10,000 female student-athletes each year while keeping each athlete’s goals, choices and growth at the center of the relationship.
We want the confidence, responsibility and leadership she practices in her sport to become skills she carries into her classroom, relationships and community.
